North Lake Tahoe, NV - - Incline Village advertising and marketing firm, smith + jones, has added two prestigious industry awards to the company’s nearly 30-year résumé. The firm’s work took overall Best of Show, as well as a gold ADDY, in the Advertising Association of Northern Nevada’s (a2n2) annual competition. The winning entry is a 2008 poster, designed for Heavenly Lake Tahoe to promote private lessons from its Ski and Ride Schools.
With a humorous approach, the poster communicates the experience of becoming an expert skier at Heavenly, complete with spectacular Lake Tahoe views from an advanced run. The ski resort’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales, John Wagnon, wasn’t surprised by the recognition. "We were very happy with the poster. It definitely captured the brand attitude and delivered the message in a clever way. Of course, our main concern was whether it motivated skiers to take private lessons. smith + jones succeeded on that level, too.”
smith + jones’ successes date back to 1980. The agency has created effective advertising for a wide variety of businesses, from tourism to tech, recreation to retail, healthcare to homebuilding. “Our goal is always results,” President Kelly Houston explained, “although recognition from our peers is pretty heady stuff. We’re very proud to show off the Best of Show trophy in our office and to be one of only two agencies to claim the distinction twice in the history of the a2n2 awards.”
a2n2 serves the Reno-Tahoe area as the vital resource for education, networking, and recognition within the marketing and advertising industries. It is the local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the not-for-profit industry association that conducts the ADDY® Awards through its 200-member advertising clubs and 15 districts.

Gold ADDY and Best of Show local winners, like smith + jones, are automatically entered in district competitions. District winners are then forwarded for national consideration with results to be announced at a June gala.
